untitled2Lester Goodwine Jr a PGCPS student died suddenly after an accident.

Police have identified the Prince George’s County Public Schools teenager as Lester Goodwine Jr. who died in a Utility Terrain Vehicle crash on Saturday night at a Prince George’s County middle school. Lester Goodwine Jr. also known as LJ to his friends and family was a popular kid.

He was killed in a UTV accident on the grounds of the Stephen Decatur Community Center and Middle School, 8200 Pinewood Drive in Clinton. The teenager was riding in a Polaris UTV with two other juveniles when it crashed on the athletic field behind the center-school, according to Maryland-National Capital Park Police.

On Monday, loved ones and friends gathered at the scene of the accident. Mamou Diallo says they were at a cookout earlier that day when Goodwine left with two teenage girls in the UTV. Diallo says he was walking home when he saw the ambulance and noticed the two girls crying.

“I ran over there and saw him on the ground,” he said. “It’s hard telling your best friend to wake up and he’s not.”

Diallo says LJ was a kindhearted person who always had a smile on his face.

The other riders were uninjured, police say.

Investigators are currently studying the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the accident. They have not figured out what caused the vehicle, which resembles a cross between an All-Terrain Vehicle and a pickup truck, to crash.

A likeable kid, he was a student at Surrattsville High School in Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS).  Funeral arrangements are currently underway.
