Residents Question Legality of Prince George’s Property Tax Hike.

It was an attempt to raise money for Prince George’s County Public Schools, but a property tax hike isn’t big enough to cover anything more than state mandated pensions. Now some residents are questioning the legality of the hike. County Bureau Chief Tracee Wilkins has the impact of the hike.

Hung Jury in Sex Abuse Trial for PGCPS Coach.

Mr. Andre Brown admitted to having sexual contact with a student at a Beltsville high school, but a jury couldn’t decide whether to convict or acquit a former teacher and coach. Prince George’s County Bureau Chief Tracee Wilkins has reaction to the hung jury.

A jury could not reach a verdict in the trial of a former high school football coach and teacher who admitted to having sexual contact with a student at a Beltsville high school.

Andre Brown was charged with sexual abuse of a minor.

He was arrested last year after a 17-year-old female student accused him of sexually abusing her on the grounds of High Point High School in Beltsville.

Prince George’s County Police say Brown asked the teen to accompany him to the locker room during homecoming weekend in 2013.

The girl later came forward to police and reported the crime.

Brown admitted involvement with the student in a videotaped police interview played in court but claimed the relationship was consensual.

Prosecutors plan to pursue a retrial June 29.

Brown was placed on paid leave by the school system following his arrest. The school system would not comment on his status Tuesday.

Brown had been a special-education teacher at High Point. He was fired as the football coach following the 2013 season.
